Climate change doesn’t follow political boundaries, and Natick is committed to working with our neighbors to understand shared challenges and partner on solutions to climate change.
In the Charles River Watershed, Natick is collaborating with communities from Hopkinton to Boston on these projects:
The Charles River Climate Compact: a voluntary partnership of 28 communities that takes a watershed approach to climate adaptation and mitigation through regional collaboration and information sharing.
The Charles River Flood Model: a watershed-scale simulation developed with 20 cities and towns to show how increased precipitation and inland flooding will affect our communities and test out mitigation solutions.
In the Sudbury, Assabet and Concord (SuAsCo) Watershed, Natick is collaborating with area communities on these projects:
Metro West Climate Equity Project: a partnership between Ashland, Framingham and Natick to build relationships with and learn from residents living in neighborhoods most likely to be affected by climate change.
SuAsCo Natural Climate Solutions Project: an effort to develop place-based land use and land management strategies to enhance the potential of forests, open spaces, wetlands, and soils.
Heat Watch Metro West: a volunteer-based community science campaign to engage residents in a scientific study to map and understand how heat is distributed in Natick, Ashland Framingham and Holliston.
