In addition, the Town of Natick with the engineering firm AECOM is designing a viaduct that will extend from the CRT in the vicinity of Cochituate Street up to Main Street, immediately north of the station. This project has received approval from MassDOT, which will qualify the project for federal and state construction funding. The Boston Metropolitan Planning Organization has programmed construction for 2028.
The design of the viaduct and related structures began in 2021. Design has been funded by a MassTrails grant, with support from the MetroWest Health Foundation and Town ARPA funds. A public meeting to review and comment on the 25% design is expected for 2024.
