Autobiographical cartoonist Allie Brosh impresses with this confessional collection of essays, adapted in part from her popular blog of the same name. Most pieces deal with Brosh’s struggle with depression, an experience rarely expressed so clearly and specifically in other media as it is here. The writer frequently details her relationship with two dogs, each as dysfunctional as herself, whom she must take care of while tending to her own serious mental issues.

  1. Midway at 75: America’s Counterpunch- Gary Hylander talk

    July 20, 2017, 2:30 PM - 3:30 PM @ Natick Community Senior Center

Midway at 75: America’s Counterpunch- Gary Hylander talk Thursday, July 20, at 2:30 pm free, Made possible by Eliot Center for Health and Rehabilitation. In the aftermath of the Doolittle raid on Tokyo in April 1942, Admiral Yamamoto planned to lure the American fleet from its Hawaiian moorings and to complete the unfinished work of Pearl Harbor. Key to Yamamoto’s plan was coordination and secrecy; he had no idea, however, that American intelligence had cracked the Japanese code. At Midway, Yamamoto forces were crushed by America’s carrier fleet. Japan lost four aircraft carriers and their crews. In ten minutes the tide of war in the Pacific had shifted against Japan.
